I have not been able to find anywhere what the cylinder compression reading(s) should be.
Can anyone advise?
Thanks.
I am getting readings between 90-110 psi
Is there any need/requirement to check/re-tighten the head bolts after an initial period of running in?
Do the new head gaskets compress at all?
I know that on some other engines (Alfa Romeo for example) it is advised that head bolts should be slackened off and then re-tightened (to the specified torque obviously) after a few thousand miles...

The cylinder compression readings on the V8 engine of 8.1 compression should be between 110-130 psi with the higher reading for a new/rebuilt engine and with minimal fluctuation between cylinders.
You need to do 2 types of test i.e oil in the bores to check if the piston rings have gone or leakage between valves and seats.
Regarding the head bolts.
There is a need to re check the head bolts after a certain period of running in.
The head gaskets do compress slightly when tightening down and upon the initial running in period.
I hope this answers your question.
Many thanks
