Up until a year ago my Shadow 11 started perfectly but now I have to press the accelerator pedal to get more revs instead of only needing to floor it.
There is no real problem with the start up initially so long as I keep the revs up but the engine runs roughly like there's too rich a mixture and stalls if I release the pedal.
I feel that the revs needed to start the cold engine are not doing the engine any good when such high revs are needed.
After a minute or so the engine suddenly runs sweetly as it used to as if a temperature switch has been activated.
I have checked the butterfly valve clearance and the cold start cam clearance settings and the switch on the air intake trunking and they are all correct.

Good Afternoon
We would suggest Checking the stove pipes to make sure they are not damaged or sucking in air.
It could also be the choke solenoid not operating properly.
Many Thanks

Hi Guys,
I would like to let you know that I have cured the starting problem on my Shadow 11.
The anti run on solenoid was faulty.
